Waves of Wonder: A History of Nantucket Sound
The Alliance continues its celebrated webinar series, A Celebration of Nantucket Sound (ACONS) with a look at the history of the unique body of water that is Nantucket Sound. The guest speaker is historian and award-winning journalist Theresa Mitchell. Theresa is the author of eight books including A History of Nantucket Sound and Cape Cod Bay, and The Hidden History of Cape Cod. In recent years, her research has explored the intersection of history and natural resource preservation including wildlife conservation.

Theresa has also worked at Cape Cod-based organizations with missions to preserve open space, wildlife and marine environments. She previously served as the Executive Director of Orenda Wildlife Land Trust. She holds a Master’s in History from Eastern Washington University, a Master’s in Environmental Management from Yale University, and a Master’s in Professional Writing from UMass Dartmouth. A former longtime Cape Cod resident, Theresa resides with her family just over the Sagamore Bridge.
